Sally tells us why we should all read Witness the Night by Kishwar Desai
A customer told me that while at The Oxford Literary Festival 2010, she chanced upon Kishwar Desai who, as a little known author with a debut novel, outshine every other high profile writer.
Witness the Night appears at first to be an uncomfortable reminder of child abuse in a distant culture, but translates into a remarkable, and very readable, portrayal of the fate of females in certain societies in India.

We have recently received delivery of over 400 classical, jazz, folk and world music cds including many titles we have not stocked before. In classical we have new titles from Harmonia Mundi and a special offer on Regis recordings - great value at £4.99 - of 5 for £20. New additions to folk include recordings by Leadbelly, Woodie Guthrie and Clannad. In World music we have a strong representation of fantastic African rhythms and in particular recommend Tres Tres Fort by Staff Benda Billi from the Congo.
